Oh my goodness am I excited about this review. For the next few paragraphs I get to talk all about chocolate. I’m actually sitting at my desk sipping a cup of tea and nibbling on a bar of dark orange chocolate as we speak and I don’t even feel guilty about it. It’s a heavenly I tell you!
Sweet William is a company I had actually never heard of until recently and I can’t believe what I’ve been missing out on. They are a 100% Australian chocolate company with all their manufacturing done right here in Sydney (another hive five for this beautiful city). Sweet William produces amazingly delicious chocolate that cater specifically for the needs of special diets. Their entire range of chocolates are:
- Dairy Free
- Gluten Free
- Nut Free
- Egg Free
- Cholesterol Free
- Low GI
- No artificial flavour
- No artificial colours
- No artificial sweeteners
- 25% less sugar (and some of the range is sugar free)
- Free of animal products and GMO products
This makes me very, very happy. I can name about five kids that I know personally that have allergies and can’t have a lot of treats (including my sweet little two year old niece). These chocolates would be absolutely perfect as a replacement. Imagine being a kid (or a mum) and not being able to eat chocolate???? I may be being slightly dramatic here, but it would be torture for me.
As a mum I am also fully aware of the full force a sugar hit can unleash on my kids and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one. My little darlings can go from ‘butter wouldn’t melt’ to full blown melt downs if they consume to much sugar. That’s another reasons I am in love with Sweet William chocolate – it has 25% less sugar than conventional chocolate and their ‘Sweet As’ range has no sugar at all – it is naturally sweetened with stevia.
The million dollar question is how do they taste?? Surely a chocolate with this many good things going for it can’t taste like the real thing right??
The kids were first to try it (of course). They didn’t need to know that it was a ‘healthier’ chocolate.
To them it looked like chocolate and it tasted sweet! Yep, they were sold. Too easy!
I don’t mean to sound like a snob but I’ve had a secret love affair with chocolate for a most of my life and I just wasn’t sure that chocolate with no milk and no sugar was going to cut it. Boy was I surprised. Ok, it doesn’t taste exactly the same as the chocolate I’m used to, but it is still really, really good. Surprisingly good. Add that to the fact that it’s actually a guilt free treat and I was SOLD too. I pulled out a bar one evening when the kids were in bed and gave some to Mr D and he didn’t really even notice that it wasn’t the real deal. He was pretty impressed when I told him it was sugar free.
With all the “Who Ha” in the media at the moment about how sugar is so bad for us, I can’t believe this chocolate is not more mainstream already. Currently you can only find it in Big W, David Jones and in the heath section of Coles. Next time you’re out at the shops, chuck some in your trolley – you won’t regret it.
I’ve even started baking with it too. I’m not saying it’s a health food – chocolate is still chocolate right, but if you can cut down on sugar when you do have a treat, then this a no brainer.
Sweet William have also launched these super cute little chocolate bunnies, just in time for Easter. They come in a pack of 12 perfect kid-sized individual bunnies and they are all SUGAR FREE!! Hip Hip Hooray, I hear you say!!! I can’t wait to take some to my little niece who is dairy intolerant – I don’t think she’s ever had chocolate before.
Just to add a little more ‘sweet’ to your evening I have $50 worth of Sweet William chocolate to giveaway too. It’ll be worth the 2 seconds it takes you to enter, I promise!!
Do you have allergies that mean you can’t enjoy chocolate?
What will you do with $50 worth of chocolate? Eat is or share it?
*Disclaimer* This post was sponsored by Sweet William but all opinions and photos are my own.
