Thermomix 'Grannys' chocolate cake (guest post)

Ingredients
  • 125g butter
  • 230g raw sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 300g plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 190g milk
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/160C fan forced. Lightly grease and line the base of a 23cm cake tin with baking paper.
  2. Add the flour, baking powder, cocoa and cinnamon into the TM bowl and mix for 10 seconds on speed 6. Set aside.
  3. Mill the sugar for 10 seconds on speed 9.
  4. Add the butter and chop for 5 seconds on speed 8. Insert the butterfly and cream the butter and sugar for 2 minutes on speed 4. Scrape down sides and base of bowl halfway through. Remove the butterful.
  5. Add egg and beat for 10 seconds on speed 4.
  6. Add the combined flour mixture and mix for 10 seconds on speed 4. Scrape down sides and base of bowl and mix for another 10 seconds on speed 4
  7. Heat the milk in a cup and mix with the bicarb and the syrup.
  8. Add the milk mixture to the TM bowl and mix for 10 seconds on speed 4. Scrape down sides and base of bowl and if necessary mix for another 10 seconds on speed 4
  9. Pour into cake tin and bake in centre of pre-heated oven for 1 hour.
  10. To serve, simply dust with icing sugar or for more a decadent option I like to slather it in some dark chocolate ganache!
